The printing industry has changed tremendously over the years, but in many ways, the model for supporting printers hasn't changed with it. Equipment comes from one company. Rigging and installation may come from another. Service comes from somewhere else. Pressroom supplies and day-to-day support are handled through another relationship entirely.
At Capital Equipment Solutions and Offset Press Supply, we believe there's an opportunity to build something different.
The relationship between CES and OPS brings together two companies that approach the industry from different sides, but share a remarkably similar philosophy about how business should be done. Both companies have been built around knowing their customers, responding quickly, solving problems and being willing to step outside the traditional boundaries of what a supplier or equipment company is expected to do.
Now, we're bringing those strengths together with an ambitious goal: to create a more connected, comprehensive way to support the printing industry.
Building Beyond the Traditional Equipment Model
When Paul Lange founded Capital Equipment Solutions, the vision was never to build another used printing equipment brokerage. The opportunity was much bigger than simply matching a buyer with a machine.
CES has continued to expand around the needs that come before, during and long after an equipment transaction. Today, that means maintaining one of the largest owned inventories of used printing and packaging equipment in North America, making cash offers for equipment, reconditioning machinery, and providing rigging, installation, plant relocations, operator training, UV service and ongoing technical support.
For Paul, that growth has always come back to the same question: what else can we do to make this easier for the customer?
“We started CES because I believed there was room to approach this business differently. I never wanted us to be a company that sold a machine and disappeared. We want to understand what our customers are trying to accomplish and have the people, equipment and resources to help them get there. What we're building with Clark and OPS is another step toward that vision.”
Paul Lange, President, Capital Equipment Solutions
Offset Press Supply has built its reputation from another critical side of the business. OPS works inside the day-to-day reality of the pressroom, providing the supplies, products, expertise and support printers need to keep production moving.
That means Clark Scherer and the OPS team understand something CES understands well: when production is on the line, customers don't need another vendor. They need someone who will answer the phone and help solve the problem.
“The best relationships in this industry are built on trust. Our customers know they can call us, tell us what they need and we'll work to find the right solution. Paul and I share that mentality. CES and OPS have different areas of expertise, but we have the same expectations for how customers should be taken care of. That's what made this relationship make sense.”

From Printing Equipment to the Pressroom
Bringing CES and OPS together creates an opportunity to connect capabilities that have traditionally existed separately.
A customer looking for used printing equipment can access CES's extensive owned inventory and work with a team that understands the machinery itself. A company with equipment to sell can receive a direct cash offer. A machine that needs attention can be reconditioned by CES whether the customer already owns it or is purchasing it for the first time.
That relationship doesn't have to end when the equipment reaches the plant. CES can support the project through removal, transportation, rigging, installation, plant relocation, operator training, UV service and ongoing equipment service.
OPS extends that support further into the pressroom, providing the products, supplies and expertise required to keep production moving day after day.
Instead of thinking about equipment, service and pressroom needs as unrelated transactions, CES and OPS see an opportunity to look at the operation as a whole.
That's where we believe the industry can go next.
Challenging the Way It's Always Been Done
Neither CES nor OPS is interested in changing the industry simply for the sake of being different. We're interested in changing the parts that can be better. We believe customers should have easier access to expertise. We believe service should continue after a sale. We believe a company should be willing to add capabilities when those capabilities solve a real problem for its customers. And we believe relationships still matter tremendously in an industry increasingly shaped by consolidation, technology and change.
The partnership between CES and OPS gives us an opportunity to put those beliefs into practice on a larger scale.
“We're building for where this industry is going, not where it has been. The bigger vision is to become a resource that can support more of our customers' operation and do it with the speed and personal service they expect from us. We have a lot we want to accomplish, and this is just the beginning.”
Paul Lange, President, Capital Equipment Solutions
There is a lot more ahead for both companies. But the direction is clear: bring great people together, expand what we're capable of doing for our customers and keep looking for a better way forward.
See What's Next at PRINTING United Expo 2026
PRINTING United Expo is built around what's next for the printing industry, which makes Las Vegas a fitting place to continue this conversation.
CES and OPS will be exhibiting at PRINTING United Expo 2026, September 23–25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. If you're attending, visit us at Booth N7271 and N7273 to meet the team, talk equipment and pressroom solutions, or simply tell us what you're working on next.
We're looking forward to seeing customers, partners and friends from across the industry and sharing more about what CES and OPS are building together.
Two companies. One goal. And we're just getting started.
